Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify applicants of anticipated vacancies through the DHA - Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities/ Major Range and Test Facilities Base in the DoD. Responsibilities You will perform traditional, Non-Destructive Inspection {NOi) of castings, forgings, machined parts, test plates, etc., utilizing NOi test equipment and chemicals applicable to the total range of nondestructive examination methods. You will calibrate and operate test equipment such as eddy current testing (ET) equipment, magnetic particle testing (MT) equipment, penetrant testing (PT) equipment, visual testing (VT) equipment and temper etch (TE) equipment. You will inspect parts for flaws or defects, discontinuities in patterns, interpret indications, and document flaws or defects in material and prepare reports on defective parts. You will work with subordinate inspectors to set the pace and demonstrate proper inspection methods and may be required to work with trainees. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is:1) Traditional NDT or NDI of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, subassemblies, and components in accordance with specifications and directives; 2) Locating, identifying and measuring surface or sub-surface defects; 3) Operating NDI/NDT equipment according to technical manuals/directives for the particular type of test equipment; documenting inspection results; and 4) Complying with all required safety regulations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. The position often requires irregular hours. This position requires rotating shift work. This position requires exposure to high noise levels. Recruitment incentive may be authorized. If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management.
