JMS RUSSEL METALS CORP Maintenance Technician in Jackson, Tennessee
Performs basic diagnostic tests, evaluates equipment performance, cleans and lubricates machinery and performs equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Understands and follows all company safety policies and procedures.
- Reads and understands manufacturer's operations manuals and diagrams as relates to preventative maintenance and repairs as well as machine proper operation.
- Dismantles machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
- Reassembles machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
- Starts machines and observes mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
- Inspects or tests damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advises supervisor of repair needs.
- Lubricates or applies adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
- Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments,according to production specifications.
- Records production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
- Reads work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
- Sets up and operates machines, and adjust controls to regulate operations.
- Collaborates with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
- Maintains equipment files and orders spare-parts inventory on service center equipment and work effectively with operations to implement a preventive maintenance program to improve equipment up time (or reliability).
- May occasionally drive company motor vehicle (non-DOT) for local pick-up for parts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
