Advance Local Sales Development Representative in Iselin, New Jersey

Job Description

As an Sales Development Representative with NJ Advance Media , you will be part of a dynamic sales team driving advertising revenue for one of the country's largest privately-owned media companies. Your sales success will come from new business development efforts, as well as client growth, through our industry-leading digital and print advertising products. You'll be supported by our leadership team, our interactive sales and product training program, and our commitment to provide resources for your successful sales career.

This position will provide pre- and post-sales support to the Sales team while focusing on growing new business. This role involves calling qualified prospects, assisting with client transitions, and facilitating smooth sales processes through a consultative, needs-based approach. This position requires reliable transportation to meet with customers and travel to our Woodbridge, NJ office as needed.

Compensation for this position is comprised of a base salary range plus incentive compensation. The base salary range is $50,000 - $55,000 per year. Additional incentives bring total potential compensation to $65,000 - $70,000.

What you'll be doing:

  • Proactively identify new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals and lead databases

  • Conduct research to identify and qualify potential prospects

  • Respond to inbound advertising inquiries and assist with pricing, deadlines and scheduling appointments for the Outside Sales team

  • Support one or more Outside Sales team members by fielding questions, requests, and opportunities in day-to-day new business efforts

  • Collaborate with the Sales team to facilitate efficient client transitions from Account Executive to Account Manager

  • Maintain accurate and updated records in the CRM system

  • Work with Digital Account Managers and the Research Team to gather pre- and post-sale data and support client program optimization

  • Ensure advertising materials are correct and released by deadlines by working closely with Digital Account Managers and Operations team

  • Prepare and customize simple sales decks and presentations to support the sales effort

  • Verify live campaigns through digital and print tear sheets and ensure delivery accuracy

  • Provide creative solutions to client and internal challenges, such as late ad materials or billing issues

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • High school diploma or a minimum of 1 year of work experience with a desire to pursue a career in Sales

  • Passion for digital advertising with the ability to learn new technology

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to create and deliver effective presentations

  • Strong team player with the ability to build rapport and confidence with clients

  • Well organized, with an ability to locate and manage data points and pricing information quickly

  • Proficiency with MS Office suite, including PowerPoint and Excel

  • Prior sales experience and knowledge of industry is a plus

  • CRM sales management software experience with a leading platform (SalesForce preferable) is a plus
