The role of the Claims Adjuster is to handle the complete adjudication of Collateral Protection Insurance claims; act as a liaison between the carrier and the representative and/or end client; be a strong advocate for the client; be a consultant to the client on claim issues. Ideal candidates must possess strong conflict management skills, great attention to detail, ability to work within a team environment, and successfully work an independent hybrid schedule with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with accounts to ensure efficient, prompt and smooth flow of handling of all claims, ensuring that established processes are followed.
Must be able to work a hybrid work schedule. (e.g. work on-site 2-3 times per week subject to change) Provide guidance to client as to claim process along with direction regarding likely outcome and timelines.
Effectively liaise with carriers and representatives through claim process.
Accurately interpret policy language.
Conduct investigation and determine applicable coverage per loss.
Research and answer coverage questions of varying difficulty.
Maintain claim files, diary, and/or record keeping, etc. in a timely manner.
Must be able to handle claims under multiple loss types simultaneously.
Provide excellent customer service to all our clients.
Review and audit files regularly.
Answer incoming phone calls within specified time frame.
Work with team on the accurate and timely filing of claims.
Identify potential opportunities to improve operational efficiency and communicate with management.
Setting educational goals to improve personal performance/continuing education for license if required.
Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time within and outside of the Claims Department to support HFS overall business needs and goals.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Required: Basic math skills.
Required: Reading Comprehension: Understanding company manuals step-by-step.
Required: Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Required: Experience in the auto insurance industry.
Preferred: Intermediate to Advanced Level of Microsoft Office Suite. (e.g. Word, Excel, and Outlook)
A minimum of 2 years of claims adjusting experience required.
Strong understanding of state statutes and regulations regarding claim handling practices
Claims handling experience and working knowledge of auto and mortgage lender placed or force placed/Creditor Placed Insurance (CPI) required.
Prior experience in the mortgage industry with Real Estate Owned (REO) or foreclosed/Lender owned properties preferred.
Successful experience working independently with minimal supervision.
Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Pre-hire skills assessment required.
LICENSING OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
TX Property and Casualty adjuster license required.
Obtain additional P&C adjuster licenses in appropriate states within 30 days of hire if applicable.
