Description
We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a Certified Payroll Specialist in Irvine, California. This role is based in the industry of labor compliance and involves managing payroll for a workforce of 120 employees across multiple locations including California, Arizona, and Nevada. You will also be instrumental in establishing more efficient systems for payroll and benefits management.
Responsibilities
• Oversee the payroll processes for a mix of salaried and field employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
• Provide support in handling payroll backlog, contributing to improved cash flow.
• Aid in the processing of disability and unemployment claims, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Handle certified projects, maintaining an understanding of the prevailing wage for accurate payroll management.
• Manage payroll for multiple ongoing and contracted projects, ensuring all payments are processed as per contract terms.
• Perform manual data entry tasks as required, ensuring all payroll data is accurate and up-to-date.
• Implement and manage systems to streamline payroll processes and reduce the need for manual data entry.
• Train and guide team members on payroll processes, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
Requirements
• Certified Payroll knowledge required.
• Proficiency in payroll software is essential.
• Prior experience in a payroll position is required.
• Demonstrable knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent numerical skills and ability to handle large amounts of data.
• Strong communication skills for liaising with various departments and external agencies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding employee information.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles is desirable.
