Gogebic Community College Vice President of Academic Services in Ironwood, Michigan

Gogebic Community College is seeking an individual who is responsible for all matters relating to instruction. Additionally, the individual works collaboratively with the President and the other Vice Presidents within the college. The VP also has a supervisory role over four other directors. It is important that there is recognition, acceptance, and adherence to the community college mission and philosophy from our candidate. The starting salary for this position is $112,550.63. The College offers a generous benefits package including Health/Dental/Vision Insurance Health Care Benefits, retirement benefits, and employee-paid leave programs. Non-Affiliated Benefits. Retirement options of State of Michigan (two plans) or GCC's 403b plan with 13% employer contribution and minimum required 4% employee contribution

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of Academic Services.
  • Community college programs and services.
  • Community college administration, funding and budgeting.
  • Employee and labor relations.
  • Strategic planning with a record of achieving institutional goals.
  • Increasing enrollment strategies and student success initiatives.
  • Grant development, evaluation and administration.
  • Instructional technology.

Ability to:

  • Provide leadership in instructional administration.
  • Improve the quality of academic programs.
  • Work effectively and form partnerships within a wide range of college-related factions and interests.
  • Promote innovation.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Operate a PC and related software.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. A typical way to obtain these would be a Master's in Education or a related field. A Doctorate is preferred. A combination of seven years experience in community college administration, instructional coordination, or teaching
