Jacobs ESSCA Group PLI Systems Engineer #ADV0008WR in Huntsville, Alabama

Provide systems engineering support to the Systems Definition and Integration Branch, and the Payload Integration (PLI) Office for the development and support of Payload Integration activities and documentation. Personnel will provide engineering support for PLI interfaces with Space Launch System (SLS) elements. This position supports the PLI LSE on behalf of the Systems Design and Definition Branch (EV72) and the PLI Office.

Tasks

Identify payload design options within the solution space, support trade studies, systems analyses and other activities which define optimum solutions for payload interfaces, capabilities, and their corresponding requirements.

Specific support to be provided and performed includes:

Support the definition, control, and verification of SLS to payload interfaces by coordinating technical integration activities between payload developers, SLS Program Systems Engineering and Integration (SEI), SLS discipline engineers, and other NASA Stakeholders. The support will include the development of necessary integration products as defined by SLS (these may include products such as Interface Requirements/Definitions, Payload Integration Agreements, Payload Users-guides, Verification Data, Launch Site Integration Plans/Agreements, Payload Unique Designs, and Integration Lifecycle Assessments).

Manage responsible products through appropriate change management processes for documents and deliverables which may include, but is not limited to interface requirements, interface control, design definition, functional schematics, trade study reports, and other technical data.

Support appropriate SLS to Payload Integration Life-cycle events and activities as determined by the SLS Program. This may include supporting design reviews, integration reviews, verification reviews, safety assessments, or physical integration activities at the Launch Site, as well as Flight readiness assessments. Support may range from participating and reviewing technical products, planning for these reviews, or providing assessments and reporting outcomes of these activities.

Job Requirements:

A degree with at least 2 years of systems engineering and integration experience plus one year of experience in leading Technical Teams is required. A degree from an ABET accredited university is preferred.

Practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems found in satellites and other autonomous space systems.

Strong understanding on the fundamentals of space vehicle architecture and operations

Ability to provide engineering context to both technical documentation and stakeholder discussions.

Experienced in systems engineering with one or more of the following specific skills: Model Based Systems Engineering (Cameo), Requirements Management (DOORS), Verification Planning, Interface definition and planning.

Desired:

5+ Years of Systems Engineering and integration experience.

2+ Years of Experience in leading Technical Teams

Experience translating complex issues into cohesive, actionable components.

Experience building consensus, negotiating, and empowering teams to deliver results where process definitions may not yet exist or are unclear.

Experience communicating and interacting with stakeholders, customers, and/or NASAs international partners.

Experience supporting payload programs
