Phillips 66 Specialist, Commercial Logistics BI in Houston, Texas

The Specialist, Commercial Logistics BI team manages system interfaces, data integrity, data analytics, and optimization modeling for the Logistics group in the Commercial organization. The Specialist, Commercial Logistics BI is responsible for managing system interfaces, aiding in developing data analytic dashboards, contributing to project needs, and building simulation and optimization models to improve supply chain performance and general interest profitability. The ideal candidate will have rail operations experience, a strong understanding of refineries, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, be self-driven, take ownership, and works well in a team environment.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Monitor SAP interfaces with Rail applications; troubleshooting, analyzing, improving, and timely resolving issues

  • Be an in-house expert for Truck & Rail application systems; sharing knowledge with others

  • Develop new analytics tools and reports to enhance data visibility and facilitate improved decision-making

  • Build and maintain KPIs for Truck and Rail operations to better measure performance and drive continuous improvement

  • Interface/collaborate with key business stakeholders to develop reports and KPIs to provide transparent and timely access to logistics data

  • Lead/assist with special or cross-functional projects that aid in business improvement opportunities, as needed

  • Own business process development, improvement, optimization, and sustainability for assigned Commercial functions and stakeholders

  • Develop logistics optimization models and support cross-functional optimization projects to enhance general interest value

  • Develop simulation models in support of fleet optimization and constraint removal projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in job posting country

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related discipline with strong analytical emphasis

  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills to support business-focused analysis and decisions

  • High degree of collaborative skills, personal drive, and dedication to achieve team goals and general interest objectives

  • 7 or more years of direct experience working in the oil and gas logistics or transportation industry with specific rail knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of statistical analysis and/or modeling experience

  • 1 or more years of direct experience with Linear Programming Optimization Modeling and/or Simulation Modeling

  • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, SQL, Alteryx, Tableau and statistical and/or modeling programs, and programming

  • Understanding of SQL database and Azure Data Lake

  • Strong interpersonal skills characterized by effective communication, teamwork, and influence, as well as the ability to quickly develop trust, establish strong relationships, and drive results

  • Sound business acumen with knowledge of key value drivers

The Commercial organization works to effectively leverage assets and market knowledge to create additional value within the risk parameters of the Company. We do this by maximizing general interest profitability, enhancing return on capital employed by successfully partnering with the Refining, Transportation and Marketing functions to ensure Value Chain Integration. Our truck and rail fleets support our feedstock and distribution operations. Rail movements are provided via a fleet of more than 10,000 owned and leased rail cars. Truck movements are provided through numerous third-party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent-owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.
