WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING

  • Provide company wide sales tax support for U.S sales/admissions tax audits; including support to LN Concerts, Festivals, Merchandise, PSS Premium Seating, VIP Sales, Sponsorship, and Corporate Divisions

  • Negotiate settlement of tax audits including reduction of penalties when applicable

  • Act as liaison between tax auditors and LN Finance to ensure proper audit procedures are followed and appropriate level of documentation is provided by both tax auditors and LN Finance

  • Take lead on audits with material assessments or complex tax issues impacting LN companies

  • Meet with auditors to ensure fair and appropriate audit procedures are applied by tax authorities to LN companies

  • Research tax laws to prevent over taxation by tax authorities against LN companies

  • Identify tax refund opportunities and assist LN companies to obtain tax refunds

  • Ensure applicable tax refunds are netted against audit assessments to reduce tax and interest assessments

Research and Tax Support

  • Provide U.S. sales, use, and admissions tax guidance to all LN companies needing sales tax support

  • Research specific revenue streams in multiple state and local tax jurisdictions for proper tax treatment and implications to companies (Examples - face value admissions, secondary market lift, ticketing fees, VIP packages, platinum lift, parking, concessions, merchandise, distributed commerce programs)

  • Research tax issues related to growing revenue segments

  • Inform LN companies of legislative tax changes potentially impacting LN tax collection responsibilities

  • Act as internal tax consultant for LN companies and divisions to address specific tax issues unique to our industry (Example - All In/Tax Inclusive ticket prices)

  • Distribute government tax liability notices to respective LN companies and provide guidance for resolution

Tax Lobbying Efforts

  • Work with LN Government Relations, Regional Presidents, LN executives, and 3rd party lobbyists on efforts to reduce sales/admissions tax impact on LN companies.

Training

  • Lead National Sales Tax Calls with LN Finance teams from LN Concerts, Festivals, Merchandise, PSS Premium Seating, VIP Sales, Sponsorship and Corporate Divisions to address existing and upcoming sales and use tax issues

  • Provide guidance to finance teams for correct use tax reporting policies and proper tax treatment of multiple revenue streams.

  • Lead effort to create internal NAC sales tax reporting matrix to identify discrepancies in current tax treatment of revenue and expenses and proper tax treatment in multiple tax jurisdictions

  • Lead effort with external consultants to create specific sales, use, and admissions tax matrices for LN

Contract Review - Mergers/Acquisitions

  • Review new venue agreements and draft/modify tax language to for appropriate tax treatment with goal of limiting tax risk to LN companies.

  • Review co-promote and 3rd party agreements for LN Concerts, TC SEO/Special Events, and distributed commerce programs for tax implications.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

  • 10+ years experience with sales and other indirect taxes in professional services firm, large public company, or state comptroller’s office

  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to interact with senior business and finance executives as well as state auditors

  • Effective writing and tax research skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage several projects at the same time

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

Education & Knowledge Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in accounting or other related field

  • CPA preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software
