100% REMOTE Satellite Platform Electrical Systems Engineer

Job Description

Manage electrical interface control documentation for power, analog, digital, and RF connections between platform and payload units and subsystems. Support electrical analyses, budgets, and design details related to power generation, storage, and distribution. Perform failure modes and effects analyses and assist with failure detection, isolation, and recovery activities. Assist with platform test activities, including the preparation and review of test plans, procedures, and reports. Conduct ionizing radiation analyses for total dose and single event effects. Draft systems engineering documentation, including requirements specifications, statements of compliance, verification matrices, and design descriptions. Support satellite development activities, such as concept of operations and communication payload integration on the platform. Participate in various program reviews, including EQSR, SRR, PDR, and CDR.

Responsibilities

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Experience with system level electrical power generation

  • Experience with system level electrical storage

  • Experience with system level electrical distribution

  • Experience with electronic unit designs

  • Knowledge of wiring harnesses

  • Familiarity with data bus protocol standards

  • Experience with system level testing

  • Understanding of space environment and communication satellites

  • Knowledge of radio frequency equipment

  • Familiarity with solar cell and battery technologies

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in space and communication satellites

  • Knowledge of radio frequency (RF)

  • Ability to lead and/or mentor junior members of the engineering team

  • Demonstrated capability of efficiently working with little to no supervision

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Knowledge of French will be considered favorably

Work Environment

This is a remote opportunity supporting the eastern time zone. This role will require 20% international travel (once every 3 months).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
