Audubon Companies, LLC Project Engineer in Houston, Texas
Audubon is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team. The Project Engineer will lead the project development of improvement ideas and projects in support of the sites capital investment plan, including growth and energy transition projects. This role is essential to ensure quality front-end engineering work is completed that sets capital projects up for success by identifying innovative alternative solutions and scope development to minimize design rework later in the project. This position leads the project development and process design activities through collaborations with cross-functional team to ensure industry leading project performance, and will challenge you to apply technical skills necessary to support project development with a range of process complexity, size, cost, and priority.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Apply primary engineering and coordination skills to the development of capital investment ideas during the initial assessment, business case development, and conceptual design of proposed solutions
- Integrate and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives and project deliverables
- Provide continued engineering support to the execution organizations (Projects and Maintenance) during the detailed engineering, procurement, and construction phases of the investment
- Ensure the appropriate technical assurance of the project designs via conformance to Client Design and Engineering Practice standards
- Lead the Project Engineering for the Select phase to ensure more detailed front-end engineering work is completed including change management, concept selection, risk management and issuance of a basis for design document
- Lead special technical studies in the operating areas and providing engineering support to the assessment (pre-scouting) activities of the production teams. This position participates in all phases of the Project Work Process
- Engage with business partners during early stage to provide facilities planning support and project planning.
- Ensure stakeholder alignment on the Project Objectives and Strategies (POS), Concept Selection, project cost and schedule, and value delivery.
- Lead the development of process design specifications, including the development of heat and material balances, design flow plans, process equipment design, process configuration alternatives, safety facilities etc.
- Develop project schedule to appropriate level of detail and set key milestone dates to support project goals, including aligning with turnaround milestones and unit outages.
- Develop project resource plans, manage development phase budget, track scope changes, and coordinate cross-functional project support including benchmarking, cost and schedule estimating, and execution planning.
- Determine contractor scope of work for Front End Engineering Design (FEED), monitor contractor performance against plans and job specification, and develop improvement plans to address any performance gaps.
- Develop project issues and opportunities management plan and steward actions to resolution.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- 10+ years' of project management and field experience working in the hydrocarbon storage and transportation, chemical manufacturing, or refining.
- Strong Leadership Capabilities.
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
- Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful.
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
