Insight Global MES Engineer in Houston, Texas
Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a MES Engineer to join a manufacturing client in Houston, TX. The MES Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, customizing, and integrating Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to ensure seamless operations within industrial environments. Your day-to-day tasks will include providing support for MES systems, troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime, and customizing MES systems to meet specific operational requirements. You will design and implement API integrations to enhance MES functionality and interoperability with other systems. Additionally, you will manage and support SCADA systems, including Rockwell, Factory Talk, and Ignition, ensuring accurate data collection and process control. Your role will involve utilizing your programming skills in Python and Java to develop and maintain software solutions that support MES and SCADA systems, writing and debugging code to automate processes and improve system performance. You will manage and maintain databases, including MySQL and SQL Server, performing regular backups, updates, and optimizations to ensure data integrity and availability. Troubleshooting industrial network issues will be a key part of your responsibilities, ensuring reliable communication between systems and devices and implementing solutions to resolve connectivity problems.

Skills and Requirements
5+ years of experience supporting MES systems
Experience with MES customizations, integrations, and designing Restful API
Experience with SCADA (Rockwell, Factory Talk, and/or Ignition)
Experience with Python and Java programming
Database knowledge and experience (MySQL and SQL Server)
Experience troubleshooting industrial networks - Ability to set up communication hardware and test your design solutions.
HMI factory floor interface experience (FactoryTalk View SE and/or Ignition).
Knowledge of Industrial Communication Protocols (Ethernet/IP, MODBUS TCP and Siemens PROFINET)
Experience in designing, testing, and implementing networked systems for industrial automation.
Experience with L3 switches (CISCO or Rockwell Stratix)
Experience working for a controls system integrator.
