Burns & McDonnell Maintenance Technician (Pearland, TX) in Houston, Texas
Description
Primarily responsible for performing a variety of routine building maintenance tasks in carpentry, painting, electrical, heating, HVAC, and plumbing. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
Position Responsibilities:
Ensures operating efficiency of heating equipment, chillers (air and/or water cooled), DX units, pumps, fan coil units, VAV, and air distribution systems.
Monitor and inspect all mechanical/pneumatic equipment, valves, thermostats, diffusers,
Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot equipment including changing filters, cleaning coils, flushing condensers as required.
Repair various light fixtures and hardware such as doors, ceilings, hand railings, and floors
Install, reinstall and/or replace signage.
Assembles, installs, repairs and/or replaces plumbing fixtures related to, urinals, flush valve assemblies and lavatories.
Maintain mechanical/breaker rooms safe clean and clear of obstructions and debris.
Ensure 24-hour emergency coverage for the building when on call.
Responds immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.)
Monitors fire and life safety inspections and schedule repairs/inspections as needed or as required per code.
Complies with all safety, health, environmental, and quality programs and policies.
Oversee and inspect work performed by third party contractors in compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
Performs routine maintenance of emergency exit signs and lights and ensures conditions are safe and clear.
Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
Maintains a friendly, efficient, positive customer service demeanor towards customers, clients, and coworkers.
Performs additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
Valid Driver’s License is required and must be active and validated.
A minimum of one (1) year of related experience
Basic knowledge in troubleshooting HVAC systems.
Basic experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and construction
Ability to prioritize tasks, work effectively under stress, and meet short deadlines.
Must have basic computer skills.
Must be or be capable of becoming a certified forklift operator
Must be or be capable of becoming a certified Aerial lift operator
Painting abilities a plus
