ERL Inc. Driver/General Laborer in Houston, Texas

The Driver will be responsible for delivering materials to the customer, which includes assistance with unloading, ensuring delivery of ticket with material, and collecting payment, if necessary. This individual must be able to pull a minimum of 20 ft. trailer for extended periods of time. Must be able to maintain a valid Texas Driver License and clean driving record. This person will be on call and must be willing to travel on very short notice.

When not driving, you will be asked to do other tasks at the facility. You need to be able to life 50 lbs if necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Load, unload and move equipment as required

  • Administrative work including completing and submitting all required company paperwork, daily route invoices, daily driving log.

  • Maintain a positive, professional, and responsive attitude when working with retailers and handling customer complaints

  • Keep vehicle clean and neat internally and externally

  • Report any maintenance problems and accidents to supervisor.

  • Communicate with Sales Representatives daily to ensure needs are being met at retailers

  • Maintain housekeeping in the work area. Ensure shop and yard are cleaned up, tools and equipment are put away, trash cans are emptied, etc.

  • Work in a team environment in the shop and yard.

  • Adheres to all policies and procedures

  • Practices safe work habits to ensure an injury free environment

  • Must be available for after hours and on-call shifts

  • Any job duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager

    Job Qualifications:

•Working knowledge of safety regulations and procedures

•Product knowledge or the ability to quickly learn it

•General computer skills

•Good communication and customer service skills

•Professional driving experience is preferred for this position.

•Industrial pallet jack experience

•No DUI’s/DWI’s or Reckless Driving in the past 5 years

•No License suspensions, revocation, or cancellation of driving privilege as a result of a moving violation within the past 5 years

•Must have TWIC Card

•Hands on skills assessment may be required based on qualifications

Essential Physical and Mental Functions:

•Lifting: up to 50 pounds

•Lift and carry: up to 75 pounds for 100 feet

•Adjusting or moving objects up to 75 pound in all directions

•Bending, stooping, walking, and climbing stairs

•Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps

•Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods

•Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another

•Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers

•Operating machinery and/or power tools

•Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment

•Ability to wear a respirator

•Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned

•Required physical ability if mandated by customer or regulatory requirements

•Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively

•Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employee to investigations.

•Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permit the employee to perform routine office duties.

•Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
