Description/Job Summary

JOB TITLE: Equipment Mechanic Sr. I

DESCRIPTION/JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment. This includes performing routine maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, and making necessary repairs to ensure the equipment operates efficiently and safely. The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and ability to work with variety of tools and machinery.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Inspection and Diagnosis:

+ + Inspect machinery and mechanical equipment to identify and diagnose issues.

  • Use diagnosis tools and equipment to pinpoint mechanical problems.

  • Record and report findings and recommendations.

Maintenance and Repair:

+ + Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.

  • Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems.

  • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.

  • Test equipment to ensure repairs and successful and equipment operates properly.

Troubleshooting:

+ + Troubleshoot mechanical problems and provide efficient solutions.

  • Work with manufacturers' manuals and schematics to understand equipment operations and repair procedures.

Safety and Compliance:

+ + Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant industry standards.

Documentation:

+ + Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work.

  • Document all inspections, services, and repairs performed on equipment.

  • Provide detailed reports to supervisors and management.

Tools and Equipment Management:

+ + Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical repair preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair.

  • Skill in use of tools and in the assembly, operation, and repair of various machines and systems.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CMRT, EPA) are a plus.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace

  • Must have regular, reliable attendance and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like, using feet and legs and / or hands arms. Body agility is emphasized. Example: Climb 3 flights of stairs as needed.

  • Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.

  • Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist.

  • Kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knee.

  • Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

  • Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Example: giving signal, reaching for material or handles on item - moving raw material with forklift.

  • Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

  • Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

  • Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.

  • Lifting, rising objects from lower to higher position, or moving objects horizontally from position. Degree of lifting: 5-50 lbs.

  • Fingering, picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.

  • Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.

  • Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

  • Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db. loss @ 500Hz, 1000Hz, and 2000Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.

  • Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and / or fingers.

  • Position requires individual to differentiate colors, depth, and perception.

  • Must be able to perform visual inspections involving small defects.

  • Must be able to read measurement devices such as tape measurements, pendulum scale, digital displays, etc.
