Job Title: GSLEP Project Leader (Wildlife Biologist III) Job Description: The Utah Department of Natural Resources,Division of Wildlife Resources is seeking an GSLEP Project Leader (Wildlife Biologist III) who will oversee the daily operations of the Great Salt Lake Ecosystem Program for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. The supervisor will assess the effectiveness of the program,conduct and coordinate technical research,oversee staff,and establish and implement regulations and policies related to wildlife conservation at the Great Salt Lake. The supervisor will act as liaison and intermediary for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in all matters pertaining to the Great Salt Lake Ecosystem. Principle Duties: As the GSLEP Project Leader you will:

  • Develop,direct,and evaluate work plans for the Great Salt Lake Ecosystem Program.
  • Write and draft correspondence,reports,documents,and other written materials.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws,regulations,rules,standards,and guidelines.
  • Identify problems or potential problem areas and recommends solutions.
  • Act as a liaison for the Great Salt Lake Ecosystem Program and other agencies and groups.
  • Supervise program biologists and other staff.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Great oral and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs.
  • A Bachelor's degree in wildlife science or a related field of study.
  • Excellent teamwork attitude; willing to assist co-workers when needed.

Health Insurance - Public Employee Health Program (PEHP):

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS):

  • Employees who accrued service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems before 7/1/2011 are part of the Tier I Public Employees System.
  • Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System.
  • Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to   10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
  • Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.  
  • Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.

Paid Time Off:

  • Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual,4 hours sick).
  • Annual leave amounts increase with years of service.
  • We have 12 paid holidays.
