What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be part of the Project Coordinator for Environmental Health Safety and Sustainability team for Amgen North Carolina. As a project coordinator for EHSS, you will maintain various environmental, health and safety systems and databases such as EHS training, inspections, incidents, risk assessments, change control and permit to work; ensuring items are tracked to closure and appropriate documentation is maintained.

  • As assigned, serve as a liaison between EHSS and project and/or operation organizations to ensure activities and tasks, align with EHS policies and procedures

  • Maintain all EHSS databases to ensure project and/or operation deliverables are complete on time.

  • Provide regular updates and reports to EHSS management and other relevant parties of progress against program requirements and permit assessments, and/or any other EHSS concerns.

  • Under supervision of Environmental Lead, review and sign regulated waste manifests.

  • Provide support for report writing and assessments.

  • Assist in the collection of baseline data to support EHSS programs including but not limited to waste disposal matrix, exposure assessments, energy and water consumption, ergonomic assessments, training records, job hazard analysis, injury reporting and industrial hygiene monitoring.

  • Conduct internal reviews, inspections, and audits to ensure that safety and environmental procedures are being followed throughout the facility.

  • Support EHSS reviews of new material acquisitions and change control requests.

  • Participate in emergency response activities and be a member of the emergency team

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma / GED and 8 years of EHS experience OR

  • Associate’s degree and 6 years of EHS experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of EHS experience OR

  • Master’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in in Environmental, Safety, Sciences and/or Engineering

  • 3+ years of individual contributor experience in safety, environmental, industrial hygiene or engineering.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Experience using Microsoft Teams, Smartsheet and creating and maintaining databases.

  • Successful experience working in a multi-plant and/or multi-site cGMP-regulated commercial manufacturing environment and laboratory environment.

  • Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements, industry trends, and ability to work in a team environment.
