As an Secuirty engineer, you will collaborate with software development and Lab development teams to ensure we keep our customers safe while developing learning experience. In a given day, you might be inspecting an application’s and Lab code for security issues, building a new framework to help our software developers build faster and more securely, or fine-tuning the design for a new service alongside its software developers.

The ideal candidate combines technical acumen with an ability to lead by influence and communicate clearly. Technically, this person will be a security generalist with one or more areas of deep expertise. In their communication, they will clearly articulate risks to technical and non-technical audiences alike. Interpersonally, successful candidates will effectively harmonize disparate opinions while effectively prioritizing risks to guide their partners towards secure solutions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own security design and architecture choices (includes architecture reviews, threat modeling, code reviews and security testing).

  • Machine Learning Model security reviews.

  • Lead projects that involve multiple engineers working on security initiatives, delivering pragmatic outcomes

  • Construct security frameworks, runbooks, and rubrics for large problem domains such as fraud and abuse

  • Work with product and system owners to help review, create, build, and innovate security features, defenses, and tools

  • Create, update, and maintain threat models for a wide variety of software projects

  • Identify opportunities to centralize and simplify security controls and processes

  • Influence your team's and partners' processes, priorities, and choices to improve outcomes

  • Security training and outreach to internal development teams.

  • Security guidance documentation.

  • Security metrics delivery and process improvements.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of experience with at least three of the following: thread modeling, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cloud security or network security

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging to executive, technical, and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience reading and writing in at least one programming language

  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You demonstrate excellent judgement in assessing and prioritizing technical risk

  • You have a strong application security background with a focus on scalable solutions

  • You have experience building and securing complex AWS architecture

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to drive multiple technically complex security reviews together while remaining effective at providing security guidance to stakeholders.

  • You work to identify and remove bottlenecks for your teammates, both in process and technology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
