ABOUT THE JOB:

The primary focus of this position is a business partner working with the Division, Region, and Branch Management teams to ensure implementation and ongoing improvement of environment, health, safety (EHS) and loss control processes and systems. These processes and systems are to be consistent with Willscot Mobile Mini (WSMM) priorities and policies as well as compliance with relevant regulations. Serve as a catalyst and expert resource to promote and maintain a caring culture focused on the health, safety and wellbeing of WSMM employee, vendors and temporary staff. Support Region and Branch Managers with ensuring all EPA, DOT, OSHA regulations are being adhered to minimizing legal, financial, and reputational risk. This role will serve as a key member of the WSMM EHS team and assist in design and develop programs to meet annual goals and EHS performance initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Be the EHS Champion who motivates, inspires, creates passion and drives continuous improvement. Demonstrate leadership and provide direction to branch and region management regarding the implementation of the WSMM EHS management system. Lead key initiatives and participate on project teams to enable capabilities that are fundamental to business success in the area of EHS excellence.

  • Influence the WSMM performance culture through providing comprehensive compliance and behavior-based EHS assessments. Evaluate/Audit/Measure region and branches for levels of implementation and compliance with WSMM EHS management system processes, best practices, accident investigation corrective actions, risk assessments as well as EPA, OSHA, DOT, and state/local regulatory requirements

  • Provide expertise for investigations of EHS and loss control concerns and incidents, development corrective actions and follow-up mechanisms, and ensure communication of relevant information to Branch, Region, and employees.

  • Work with Service Center(s), DVPs, and Regional Managers to design, develop, and execute EHS plans/policies and procedures aligned with WSMM EHS goals. Collaborate with branch and regional leaders to implement an EHS management system to achieve a Zero Harm culture. Manage EHS project/plans and initiatives to ensure effective deployment and integration into operational practices.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing EHS programs and determine/implement appropriate modifications to support Region and Branch execution. Prepare reports included, but not limited to, weekly, monthly, incident, root cause analysis, special EHS emphasis, Stand Up/Downs, and assessments. A report shall outline opportunities for change to advance a caring culture focused on continuous improvement. Lead the Branch teams to institute change management and track corrective and preventative actions (CAPA’s) to closure.

  • Provide regulatory and technical EHS support and information to local, regional and divisional teams. Partner with branch and regional leadership to complete and revise HIRARC assessments focused on identifying and eliminating unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and exposures to achieve a Zero harm culture

  • Conduct (safety) behavioral assessments related to EHS systems and coach, guide and mentor WSMM employees. Review and analyze data and data integrity to provide Operations with accurate information to accelerate decision making. Design and deliver EHS training to improve branch and regional competency and create empowerment.

  • Facilitate regular communication with branch leaders, regional leaders, and OM’s to obtain feedback capture EHS program improvement opportunities. Ensure open communication and status of progress and resolution on improvements. Track items through to closure and report to EHS team.

  • Collaborate with branch leaders, region leaders, OD’s and OM’s to evaluate EHS challenges/opportunities for improvement, design actions plans, and provide oversight to ensure alignment with WSMM operational excellence goals.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA 4-year college degree strongly preferred in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Science or other closely related field

  • Professional certification: ASP/CSP, CIH, CPEA, REM/REP, CHMM

  • Demonstrated safety leadership in previous positions held in increasing responsibilities

  • 7-10 years of experience in the EHS field with at least 3 years in a management role strongly preferred

  • OSHA Authorized Trainer

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and experience in fleet safety management

  • Knowledge of EPA air and storm water permit regulations

  • Experience and oversight in a multi-state operation a plus

  • Travel up to 75% of the time
