Boeing Global Services is currently seeking a highly motivated Software Architect Lead to become part of the Training Systems - Battlespace Simulation Management team in Hazelwood, MO. This position will support Battlespace & Simulation Management (BSM) team. This is an excellent opportunity gain knowledge of the depth and breadth of the training solutions Boeing provides to the Air Force as well as to contribute to one of the cornerstone programs of the Training Systems portfolio.

BSM is responsible for the design, development, manufacture, and maintenance of training devices for a wide variety of commercial and military aircraft - everything from F-15 fighter jets to Apache attack helicopters, and even NASA's Starliner spacecraft. Software engineers on our team are responsible for all phases of the software lifecycle, including architecture, design, implementation and test. They are also directly involved in planning their own work, as part of the agile methodology, with a focus on technical excellence.

The BSM team is a large software development team comprised of several smaller agile teams, some with specialized skills. Our backlog includes everything from new feature development using cutting-edge technology to maintenance of legacy software baselines. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working in an often fast-paced environment within a two-week "sprint" schedule.

As a Senior Software Architect, you will act as an independent technical SME developing software architecture for BSM’s core products. You will lead on planning, designing, developing, integration and maintaining of BSM core products to meet program objectives. You will provide technical leadership for the entire tech stack of solutions needs for BSM programs. You will lead software research and development projects ensuring its feasibility in the next gen products and services and advise program customers on software-level architecture and establish and maintain frequent and open communications with agile teams.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead software research and development projects ensuring its feasibility in the next gen products and services

  • Independent technical SME development software architecture for BSM’s core products (IOS, BDS, DVRS etc.)

  • Lead on planning, designing, developing, integration and maintaining of BSM core products to meet program objectives

  • Provides technical leadership for the entire tech stack of solutions needs for BSM programs

  • Advise program customers on software-level architecture and establish and maintain frequent and open communications with agile teams

  • Train and mentor team architects and senior software engineers fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a SECRET US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Ability to obtain SECRET US Security clearance (Post-Start).

Coding Challenge:

To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 15+ year of experience working on major government training and services platforms, simulators, instructor stations etc

  • 10+ years or more of technical leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in technologies such as Qt, Cesium, O3DE and other graphics development

  • 15+ years of experience in programming languages such as C++, C, C#, Rust, Java etc.

  • 10+ years of experience working in complex software applications in DoD Government Training space.

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $151,300 – $204,700
