Position Overview
Operate various mobile equipment safely and efficiently, including front-end loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, graders, etc. Must be able to safely and efficiently load customer trucks.
Must be able to operate and maintain the following plant equipment: All Conveyors, Sand Screws, Pumps, Screens and Crushers.
Will "float" to other areas of plant to fill in for vacancies due to vacation, call outs, etc. Must be willing and able to work the scheduled hours of the position floating to and/or as directed by day shift supervisor.

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
a) Inspect machine and fill out pre-shift inspection form daily.
b) Adhere to all MSHA and Company safety rules/regulations
c) Perform assigned tasks safely and proficiently.
d) Maintain equipment properly (fuel, grease, clean, etc. as required)
e) Push stone to the tunnel feeders safely and efficiently, as deemed necessary by management.
f) Efficiently load all haul trucks and customer trucks with various products as needed.
g) May be called upon at discretion of the Foreman to grade roads and also prepare blast areas in addition to performing any other duties assigned that may include operation of loader, excavator, dozer, grader, secondary breaker or other auxiliary equipment and/or to assist other departments if necessary.
h) Perform maintenance mechanic duties in all plant areas as instructed by management
i) Perform housekeeping duties in all plant areas as instructed by management.
j) Attend training classes as required
k) May be called upon at discretion of the foreman to perform any other duties assigned and/or to assist other departments if necessary.

m) May be called upon to fill in as ground person/deck hand/etc in other areas of the plant.
n) Must be able to work the scheduled hours of the area of the plant when "floating" to cover a vacancy.

III. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate the ability to perform all work safely.
Learn and implement MSHA standards and regulations to ensure a safe operating environment is maintained at all times. Report any safety concerns to the foreman immediately.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in varied weather conditions: in wet, dusty, and noisy environment, heat and cold. Some danger due to working around other equipment/plant and/or traffic.

V. PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Frequent climbing, lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, walking and working in strained positions.
Employee must be willing to work long hours and overtime as necessary.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

  • High School or GED
  • Successful completion of MSHA/OSHA Training

  • Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently
  • Ability to service the assigned equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency


Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Basic mechanical skills needed.
  • Must possess the ability to properly splice and maintain conveyor belts.
  • Must be able to identify areas of containment.
  • Ability to carry out simple oral and written instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Able to perform all duties without a direct threat of injury to the individual or others.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently.

Work Requirements
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and company procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Ability to work scheduled overtime and weekends and occasional night shifts.
  • Available for emergency overtime when the need arises. This may include weekend hours.

Rates start at $30.24 depeneding on experieince as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement and include comprehensive health benefits, annuity, pension, 401k, and savings package, and more!
