Hours:

  • Nights Plant Production Supervisor

  • 12 hour Overnight "B" Shift: 6pm - 6am | Mon-Thurs

  • On occasion, it will may be required to work outside of these hours to collaborate with management on the other shifts.

Wage:

  • Based on Experience | Salaried Position

  • Eligible for Biannual bonuses

Position Summary:

  • The plant production supervisor l will be responsible for maintaining safety, quality and production in the entire plant while ensuring that all company policies and regulations are being followed properly.

Essential Duties and Tasks:

To perform the plant production supervisor role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made, upon request, to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Mentors, coaches, and oversees the work of the team to meet safety, quality, and operational needs.

  • Oversees and directs all daily production activities of the department by continuously performing department walk throughs throughout shift.

  • Ensure achievement of safety, quality, and productivity goals for specific department/shift.

  • Monitor production activity and data to support development of solutions and CI processes as developed/directed by manager.

  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of CI/Operational Excellence processes.

  • Responsible for assisting with hiring and ensure quality training of new employees. Actively monitor trainee progress, provide feedback and arrange additional training for employees as needed.

  • Complete Leadership Standard Work requirements.

  • Supervise and critique change overs and reduce the time by making sure the operators are planning their change over ahead of time.

  • Maintain staffing for the department and arrange coverage when needed.

  • Must monitor and maintain ERP, SSFD Operating system to show data of machines.

  • Set the example for the shift to follow in areas such as attitude, sense of urgency, cooperation, and relationship with other employees, leads, supervisors and managers.

  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures as included in the employee handbook. Hold weekly safety huddles with direct team and conduct ongoing training to ensure safety for self and fellow employees. Ensure unsafe behavior is immediately addressed and corrected in the workplace.

  • Perform job duties accurately so that other personnel and departments and ultimately customers receive correct information and or product.

  • Meet production schedule daily and identify current or potential incidents impacting schedule.

  • Identify constraints to meeting schedule timely, informing manager of constraints. Work with manager to develop action plan to minimize constraints.

  • Conduct timely and detailed employee evaluations of production associates.

  • Oversee performance concerns and/or disciplinary action as required in a fair, consistent, and confidential manner.

  • Responsible for accurate accounting of employees worked hours, and vacation approval for payroll purposes.

  • Work effectively with neighboring plant departments in a team environment to develop multi-functional solutions.

  • Follow all applicable instructions relative to food safety and the SQF Food Safety Management System, including Employee GMP’s

  • Report food safety problems to personnel with the authority to initiate actions

  • Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout the areas.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • 2 year associate degree or higher in business industry – Preferred

  • Two+ years related manufacturing industry preferred position with increased responsibility

  • Two+ years of proven success leading a team in a manufacturing setting

  • Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills to communicate and coordinate effectively with leadership, employees and external clients.

  • Ability to read, comprehend and write correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to fellow employees.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.

  • Work in a manufacturing plant utilizing computer, dollies, forklift, hand tools, safety knives, tape measure, packaging equipment, pallet jacks and standard safety equipment.

  • Utilize resource materials including production schedule and standardized forms/paperwork.

  • Vision capabilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be willing and able to work overtime when required.

  • Ability to effectively lead by motivating, coaching and mentoring employees. Willingness to compassionately hold others accountable and to be held accountable.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), and Outlook email and calendar capabilities.

  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive employee information.

  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.

  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs, and develop solutions and/or options.
