Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Weights Measures Inspector in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4372633 THE POSITION The Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Weights and Measures, is seeking a dedicated, responsible person with knowledge in weights and measures inspections, with a valid Pennsylvania Class C license. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this role, your main responsibility will be to carry out thorough inspections and accuracy tests on weighing and measuring devices that are utilized in commercial transactions. Additionally, you will be tasked with inspecting packages and commodities that are packaged, sold, or offered for sale based on weight, measure, or count. Another important aspect of your job will involve auditing inspections conducted by Certified Examiners of Weights and Measures. Lastly, you will also be responsible for investigating any claims or suspicions of fraudulent activities or abuse in the sales of commodities that are sold based on weight, measure, or count.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position will be home headquartered in either Northumberland, Montour or Columbia County.  If applicant does not live in the county listed, the assigned state vehicle must be parked in that county. In addition to these counties, work duties may also be performed in counties of Potter, Tioga, Cameron, Clinton, Lycoming, Union and Snyder. Traveling is required in state within region and in state and out of state for training. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of public contact work, including one year of experience in weights and measures inspections; and graduation from high school. or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the requisite knowledge and skills and abilities with weights and measures inspections.

Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid PA Class C non-commercial driver's license.

Additional Requirement: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
