Reference #: 4368420 THE POSITION The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is hiring a Clerical Assistant 2 that will be responsible for processing basic motor vehicle and driver licensing applications received in messenger services.  This position will provide support to the customer service counter area in processing applications received from the general public for basic motor vehicle and driver licensing transactions.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role the Clerical Assistant 2 will use basic knowledge of Motor Vehicle Code, procedures and regulations adopted by the Department of Transportation pertaining to registration and licensing.  This position involves speaking with customers face to face or via telephone. The incumbent will examine and process bureau forms to ensure proper issuance of replacement or corrections to motor vehicle and driver license credentials, research documents to correct customer records, and review insurance suspension letters and determine eligibility requirements to either start or restore from registration suspensions.

The Clerical Assistant 2 will be responsible for cash shortages within the guidelines expressed in Appendix "J" of the Clerical, Administrative, and Fiscal Unit section of the AFSCME agreement, will determine negotiability of checks and money orders, and handle cash transactions and issues necessary change from own cash drawer.  The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that the correct fee waiver code is used and properly documented whenever a fee waiver is necessary to process a customer transaction. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week. Work hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,929 (before taxes) You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.
