Job Title: Welder and Fabricator
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Welder and Fabricator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in fabricating custom structures and piping systems, interpreting blueprints, and operating various types of equipment. This role requires a high degree of precision and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
Fabricate custom structures and piping systems to tight tolerances specified on engineered drawings.
Estimate work orders and submit funding requests.
Populate online work packages following NASA processes.
Order materials and tooling for the team.
Interpret blueprints and weld callouts to fabricate hardware within drawing specifications.
Operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and oscillating man lifts.
Communicate effectively with others and develop customer relations.
Utilize Microsoft Office 365 for work package management, including email, Word, and Excel.
Essential Skills
10+ years of fabrication and welding experience.
Ability to pass multiple welding qualification tests, primarily in the 6G position, open root.
Proficiency in GTAW, FCAW, and GMAW on various metals, including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Experience in fabricating both structural hardware and piping systems.
Proficiency in various metal cutting processes, including Oxygen/Acetylene, Plasma, and Carbon Arc.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prefer candidates with pipe fitting/welding and structural fabrication experience.
Hands-on experience with custom fabrication techniques for manufacturing one-of-a-kind flight test articles.
Ability to pass the welding qualification test to retain employment.
Must pass a company and government check.
Valid VA driver’s license with a good driving record to drive company vehicles.

Work Environment
Candidates will work onsite at NASA Langley Research Center, located in Hampton, VA. The primary work location is in a shop environment. Candidates will have an office space with a computer for time keeping, email communication, and accessing engineer drawings. The standard shift is from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime available as needed. Pay rate is based on the candidate's experience and relevant skills.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00
