POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Operations Manager coordinates, supervises, and directs personnel and contractors daily activities involved in the successful execution of events and maintenance of the facility by performing the necessary duties personally or through subordinate assistants/supervisors. Work is performed in a fast-paced environment requiring multi-tasking and overlapping deadlines. The job requires extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Must have the ability to walk extended distances and climb stairs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages supervisors who oversee employees in various functions, to include event setup, conversions and tear down, facility inspections, maintenance, scheduling, and light constructions.

  • Directs, supervises and schedule all aspects of operations including event staffing, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, setups and change overs.

  • Directs and motivates subordinates in a respectful manner to keep moral at a high level.

  • Communicates and manages staff to execute relevant event information in order to ensure all tasks are completed per Event Request details to sure facility readiness and smooth operation.

  • Manages full and part-time staff to include interviewing, hiring and training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Develops operating procedures that conform to corporate standards, customized to the specific needs of the facility and consistent with the goals and objectives of the client, facility and corporation.

  • Implements and trains all employees on the operating procedures, emergency plans, and safety/risk management policies that conform to corporate standards. Prepares written disciplinary actions, memos.

  • Develops, recommends and plans preventive maintenance programs for facility equipment/repairs and systems through ASM Global’s ALTUM and manages the work order process.

  • Maintains current Globally Harmonized System (GHS), former Safety Data Sheet (SDS), on all products and ensures proper labeling and that warning are posted.

  • Maintains records for equipment inventory and maintenance performed on all building machines/equipment.

  • Ensures adherence to safety codes, ensuring adherence to OSHA guidelines and other safety-related codes.

  • Interacts with other departments regarding facility conditions.

  • Continually inspects facilities before, during and after assigned events or clean-ups.

  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

  • Assists in the preparation, negotiation, and review of service agreements with vendors including, consumable products, landscaping services, and trash and recycling services.

  • Manages building-related projects and prepares written documents and reports as needed and required.

  • Assists the Director of Operations on any construction related projects and equipment need/purchases, as needed.

  • Conducts regular staff/department meetings in alignment with GBAC certifications

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferred.

  • Three (3) years related experience and/or training in the public assembly industry in an operations position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Possess skills and experience in supervising/training personnel, scheduling, time management, and purchasing procedures through verbal or written communications.

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn required business systems

  • Ability to maintain excellent organizational skills, good communication, and planning skills.

  • Ability to work irregular hours to include evenings, nights, days, holidays, and weekends as required.
