Stetson University Temporary - Lifeguard LW7666 in Gulfport, Florida

P rimary Purpose : Responsible for supervising pool activitie s.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Employment duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of pool visitors.

  • Monitoring designated areas to recognize signs of danger.

  • Warning swimmers regarding unsafe situations.

  • Maintaining order in the swimming area.

  • Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning.

  • Performing first aid procedures.

  • Administering CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.

  • Keeping the pool, or other areas clean and free of debris.

  • Opening and closing the facility to visitors.

  • Responsible for keeping current with all Certifications and Training required to comply with the Lifeguard Certification Program.

  • Adheres to all pool safety standards, including safety procedures for adverse weather conditions.

  • Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent GED is required . Current Lifeguard Training certification and current CPR and First Aid certification are required – must provide proof of certification. Prior experience as a lifeguard is preferred. Must be a strong swimmer. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule on weekends. Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to withstand outdoor elements for long periods of time.

    Work ing Conditions : Work duties performed indoors and outdoors, with frequent customer interaction. Work involves frequent walking; standing; lifting and carrying objects up to 30 lbs.; bending, stooping; may involve the operations of equipment in which manipulative skills and eye-hand coordination are important ingredients of safe and/or productive operations. Work may require infrequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions.     Reports to: This position reports to the Associate Director for Student Affairs .

    This is a part-time, temporary position.
