Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a Painter, Position Description Number PDD2127000 and is part of the WY Combined Support Maintenance Shop, Wyoming Army National Guard. Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is to prepare and apply coating materials such as paints, varnishes, and rust proofing compounds on stationary and mobile equipment and on combat, tactical, and commercial vehicles. (1) Prepares surfaces (i.e., metal, wood and glass) by removing rust, paint, and loose particles. (2) Prepares coating materials using guidelines set by the manufacturer, by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in various additives (i.e., retardants, hardeners, drying agents, and other additives) needed for the different coatings to work properly and achieve the necessary surface appearance. (3) Applies coatings using acceptable methods of the trade to include special finishing techniques to achieve desired results. (4) Monitors and adjusts air pressures in paint booth, controls heat settings and drying times in drying booth to achieve proper surface adhesion of coatings. (5) Applies Chemical Agent Reactive Coating (CARC) materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions. * This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. * Requirements Conditions of Employment KEY REQUIREMENTS: Primary consideration will be given to current WY ARNG military members. If required, additional areas of consideration certificates may be released to hiring managers. Open to US Army, Army Reserves, and Army Nat'l Guard military members only Must be assessed into WY ARNG before appt. May take up to 120 days. Must become a member of the Wyoming Army Nat'l Guard before appt. Must submit ERB or DA Fm 2-1 with application. Must possess or be able to obtain/maintain a T3/SECRET security clearance. May be required to successfully complete a trial/probationary period. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, if eligible. Subject to funding and TAG approval. PCS is not authorized in lieu of incentives. EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT). Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician position over 180 days will result in suspension or termination of these military incentives. Area 2: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) T32 Dual Status technicians employed within the Wyoming Army National Guard. Area 4: All current M-day soldiers of the Wyoming Army National Guard. Area 6: Current military members of the US Army, Army Reserves, or other states' Army National Guard units. Must be willing/eligible to join the Wyoming Army National Guard as a military member prior to appointment to position. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Work involved in applying coating materials (for example, paint, varnish, lacquer, shellac, epoxy, epoxy resin, and Teflon) on wood, glass, synthetic, concrete, and other surfaces. Work is done with brushes, rollers, spray guns and other related methods and techniques and is performed on the insides and outsides of buildings, aircraft, vessels, mobile equipment, fittings, furnishings, machinery, and other surfaces. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of surface preparation (removal of rust, dirt, paint, etc.); coating methods (brushing, rolling, and spraying); and coating materials (paints, varnishes, shellacs, etc.). Must have the ability to use tools and equipment associated with the painting trade and to read and interpret directions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of any surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Skill in building up, shaping, and leveling surfaces with metal and synthetic resins, plastics, and patching compounds; obtain finely smoothed surfaces with abrasive compounds, pumice, and rottenstone; even out dents and scars by burning-in processes; and treat surfaces with pre-coating agents. NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.
