The SADG team in Foundry Services will also provide access to higher level system design services to help our customers seamlessly turn silicon into products and solutions. This expertise leverages Intel’s 30+ years of industry leading server and AI system architecture and reference and production design at node/system, rack, cluster, and supercomputer levels. This expertise is across all system aspects including Board, System, Mechanical, Thermal, Power, Cooling, Telemetry, Memory, I/O, Storage, Networking, Optics, Security, RAS, BIOS/FW/Software, Solutions, and full chip/systems/cluster Workload Modeling.

Overview:

In this position, the candidate will lead and build a diverse team of engineers to define, design and validate for production AI/HPC server board and system products. This team will be responsible for and encompass all aspects of server board and system design across logic, analog circuits, power integrity, cooling solutions, thermal, mechanical, signal integrity, layout, routing, validation, DFT, etc. These products will span the range of reference systems to volume production systems to full racks/clusters. The system products will be built alongside the silicon design teams in Foundry Services to bring up, validate and accelerate time to market for Foundry Services silicon products and their customers. Production design and reliability will be central to every server system design. The candidate will lead the server design team to perform feasibility studies; drive and enable new technology development; and facilitate design trade-offs with Foundry Services customers to the best possible performance, cost, and feature targets while meeting world class reliability, serviceability metrics. The candidate will plan and execute a hiring plan, staff programs for success with qualified, motivated, and capable engineers, and direct engineering activities to meet schedules, cost, and product requirements. The candidate will also work with the system validation and manufacturing teams as the systems are developed, to ensure the Foundry Services customer’s the silicon product objectives are realized, and product meets DFT, DFM, and quality requirements.

Specific Board and System Hardware Manager Duties

The successful candidate will:

  • Have the technical and business skills to lead a team of board and system development engineers and manage their activities, functions, and responsibilities.

  • Oversee various aspects and processes of board and system engineering such as design, deployment, integration, systems, validation, and solution delivery.

  • Drive priority feature or landing zone trade-off decisions to ensure product competitiveness.

  • Apply expertise in board and system design to aggregate and prioritize system requirements with various business teams and establish a complete system strategy, leading the planning, business justification, execution, and launch following the product lifecycle.

  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, managing expenses, and team's capital assets.

  • Enable teams to execute through clear goal setting, facilitating work, maintaining accountability, applying differentiated performance management, and driving team results.

  • Build a high-performance engineering team by identifying the needs of the team and recruiting and hiring the best talent available. Align organization needs to the interests and passions of each employee.

  • Collaborate with SOC and package development teams and customer, participating in design decisions to make tradeoffs between cost, features, performance, and schedule.

  • Establish sustainable customer relationships based on trust and built on execution performance exceeding customer expectations.

Experience and skills:

Experience in building and leading a high-performance engineering teams.

Experience in demonstrating performance targets, including correlation post-production.

Understanding of and experience in making system design trade-offs to hit schedule, and cost.

Cross system understanding of power, thermal, mechanical, signal integrity, etc.

Experience in working with external customers on complex systems and rack projects.

Good communication and negotiation skills to influence internal and external customers.

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science or Master's in EE/Computer Science and/or MBA or related field + 15 years of experience in related field.

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
