Inventory Accountant Location: Greenwood Village, CO City Light & Power, Inc. (CLP) is seeking an Inventory Accountant to join our team of Accounting Professionals at our corporate location in Denver. Local candidates strongly preferred. Hybrid work schedule. The Inventory Accountant is responsible for a variety of inventory and accounting tasks to ensure inventory is tracked and maintained to meet client/contract expectations and financial management. This position requires problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, and the ability to recognize and understand the cross functional impact of inventory transactions across the Company. Duties and Responsibilities: Track and monitor weekly inventory usage and manage and follow-up on any discrepancies and adjustments related to inventory. Perform monthly close activities including posting inventory transactions, account reconciliation, and prepare journal entries and supporting documentation associated with inventory. Maintain master inventory listing across company locations for consistent tracking and monitoring. Assist Job Cost Accountant with review of materials posted to each job during and prior to completion. Work with purchasing and accounts payable to endure accurate posting of inventory received, including review of purchase orders and accounts payable invoices. Lead annual physical inventory and cycle counts, including planning, working with management and field personnel to perform inventory counts, investigating and reconciling inventory variances, resolving issues, and entering any necessary inventory adjustments. Maintain or develop accounting policies, procedures, and process documentation. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Two-four (2-4) years of experience with inventory or cost accounting, preferably in utility or construction fields. Thorough understanding of integrated financial and accounting systems (Spectrum or DelTek Costpoint a plus). Proficiency with a broad range of computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Power Point, Word) Ability to understand complex processes, document processes and best practices, and collaborate with others in new procedure implementation. Strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communications capabilities; must be able to work with individuals at all levels both internally and externally Ability to work collaboratively across the organization Ability to work in a structured, but changing environment Must be flexible and sensitive to meeting deadlines Must have solid and well proven problem solving/analytical skills. Understand and adhere to policies/procedures Travel: Up to 10% may be expected Other Requirements: You must be a US Citizen. Ability to obtain Security Clearance for Military Base Access. A valid driver's license is required. Salary: $70,000 - $80,000/year based on experience, plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
