L & E Engineering Quality Manager in Greenwood, Indiana

L and E Engineering is looking for a Quality Manager to lead the Quality Department experiencing significant growth.

Working in coordination with the VP of Quality and Engineering, the Quality Manager will have overall responsibility for the quality of products released by the Company. Must manage the Quality Assurance function to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met through proper planning, instruction, execution of procedures and compliance. Must maintain and improve quality systems as prescribed by corporate standards. Duties include management of change control and quality continuous improvement, data collection schemes, standard instructions, audits, manuals, and other routine quality systems areas. Will also direct the activities of the Quality staff. Other duties include working with customers regarding product quality, tracking pertinent metrics related to quality, training plant personnel in quality processes, facilitating improvement teams, managing compliance to specifications and supporting a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a system to assure that all products manufactured by the organization meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.
  • Supervise, train, motivate, and support the Quality and Inspection staff daily, applying a team approach and maintaining open communication
  • Plan, promote, and organize quality and reliability training activities and initiatives.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient planning and scheduling of personnel and equipment to reduce bottlenecks and problems.
  • Creates, reviews, edits, and modifies corporate quality manual, work instructions, and procedures ensuring ISO, Nadcap, and customer requirements are continually met.
  • Ensures corporate compliance to ISO9001:2015 (AS 9100 Revision D), National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap) and customer standards using internal audits. Identifies non-conforming issues and implements internal corrective actions to ensure compliance.
  • Prepares for and represents the company during all quality related audits
  • Provides customer support and communications for rapid and effective resolutions pertaining to customer quality and non-conforming issues to Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Engines, General Electric Aviation, Unison and other associated customers. Communicates with customers using customer specific directives.
  • Collects, analyzes, and prepares reports on crucial quality data using continuous improvement techniques such as Six Sigma (CpK), Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE Supplier Gold), Five Whys, Apollo Root Cause Analysis, DIVE, PDCA, etc. Briefs senior executives on quality trends and solutions. Key player in corporate continuous improvement efforts. Implements error proofing methods
  • Occasionally performs product inspections and releases to validate quality along with system and customer compliance
  • Manages corporate preventative action board. Implements preventative actions from product review board dedicated to eliminating scrap and rework actions.
  • Perform all tasks and duties as assigned by the VP of Quality andEngineering

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Aerospace or Automotive, in management position
  • Must be familiar with ISO 9001 and AS9100
  • Must be familiar with Nadcap special processing requirements for Weld and FPI
  • Must be familiar with root cause/corrective action tools: Apollo RCA, DIVE, PD A, Six Sigma, ect.
  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing Tools
  • Microsoft Office experience required.
  • Experience with GE Aviation, Rolls Royce and Pratt and Whitney a plus.
  • Experience with EPICOR a plus
