Vontier Quality Lab Supervisor in Greensboro, North Carolina

The Quality Lab Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all lab activities involving Part and Fixture Verification/Validation, Gauge Calibration, & Receiving Inspection. The Quality Lab Supervisor will be a hands-on role and require experience with CMM programming, Gage & Device Management Software, & Problem-Solving techniques.

This role will have a small team of direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day activities of the CMM and Calibration Technician team.

  • Manage Supplier Part Validation, CMM Programming and Gage & Device Calibration

  • Create and manage PR/PO’s, keeping Cost Center Accuracy.

  • Work with cross functional teams to improve manufacturability of components and assemblies and validate changes to internal & external processes.

  • Schedule and coordinate calibration schedules with 3 rd party that ensure 100% on time calibration.

  • Read and interpret manufacturing blueprints, specifications including thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Perform first article inspections (FAI); In-Process and Final Inspections as required

  • Maintain KPI’s for time to completion, % On-Time Calibration, etc

  • Communicate details & results of inspections interested parties through reports & MRB meetings.

  • Provide assistance with Floor issues pertaining to Part fitments, Gauge & Devices, calibration, & UL Certification

  • Prepare, approve and sign Certificates of Conformance, and First Article forms.

  • Have working knowledge of ISO9001:2015, participate in ISO & Internal Audit processes.

  • Participate in Kaizen’s and other continuous improvement activities utilizing VBS tools.

  • Communicate directly with customers, suppliers, and other Vontier businesses.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 Year Technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the field of Metrology

  • 3-5 Years of experience in a Manufacturing or Industrial environment

  • 3-5 Years of applied experience in Inspection, GD&T and Metrology

  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office and Windows® applications.

  • Must have proven experience demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills, and creativity in developing sound technical solutions to business problems.

  • Must have consistently demonstrated the ability to solve and document complex cross departmental issues using structured problem-solving tools.

  • Must be able to work individually and in teams.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills for internal and external customers

  • Strong interpersonal skills with co-workers and customers

  • Effective organizational skills with particular attention to detail
