North America Controller

Gilbarco Veeder-Root (GVR) is seeking an experienced finance leader who believes Accounting is not just about recording the numbers but is instead an important function in the organization uniquely positioned to use numbers to identify business opportunities and strategies. With a focus on getting the numbers right and a strong ethical bias, you have confidence in your ability to drive improvements across the business as well as within the day-to-day operations of the accounting function.
In this role you will:
Plan, schedule, and assure compliance of the monthly financial close process with GVR and Vontier policies and procedures
Provide direct oversight of accounting staff at close including review of journal entries, oversight of account reconciliations, and review of account fluctuations from historical actuals and forecast
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financial statements, as well as associated management reporting and analysis.
Prepare financial information for consolidation into overall GVR and Vontier results
Plan and lead the successful completion of internal/external audits and SOX compliance
Own the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls, procedures, and remediation plans in response to audit findings
Partner with and provide direction to other GVR team members to ensure all processes are appropriately documented and accounting policies and procedures are followed
Proactively seek opportunities to improve financial performance through reduced business expense, improved cash flow, and near & mid-term business decisions
Drive process improvement initiatives focused on the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function at GVR by eliminating lower value, manual processes through simplification and root cause investigation
Develop team members with a focus on career development within GVR
Liaise with other functions to grow accounting mind share with key stakeholders and find resolutions beneficial for both the business and the accounting operations
Research and document technical accounting issues as necessary. Lead the implementation of any new accounting pronouncements, disclosure requirements, or accounting treatment for unusual transactions in accordance with GAAP.

Who you are (Qualifications):
Accounting (or finance) undergraduate degree; CPA is a MUST.
Minimum of 10 years combined accounting experience, Big 4 or national public accounting firm, ideally in a mix of a manufacturing environment
Proven professional with an advanced understanding of accounting theory, current accounting issues, and accounting systems with a solid knowledge of US GAAP
Hands-on experience with SOX, including building and maintaining internal control structures, documenting those structures, and assessing design and operating effectiveness
Demonstrated success in coaching and mentoring team members for career growth
Working knowledge of consolidation and management reporting systems, including process flows of ERP systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively within all levels of the company, including those outside of the accounting function
A proven track record in managing projects, meeting deadlines, and working collaboratively as part of a team
Experience and comfort with being the primary contact for external auditors; able to interpret requests and provide deliverables to ensure an efficient audit
Demonstrated leadership capability and a strong desire to advance in your career through stretch assignments and personal growth
Experience in a multi-ERP environment with Microsoft Dynamics ERP and Hyperion Financial Manager is a plus
