City Of Greeley Water Treatment Plant Superintendent in Greeley, Colorado

Salary Range: $110,000 - $135,627

Job Summary: Ensure the City of Greeley's water treatment plant operates consistently in compliance with State and Federal water quality standards by supervising State-certified plant operators and support personnel, and manage the water treatment system, including treated reservoirs, to maintain an adequate water supply.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree gained through a four-year college/university academic program or specialized technical training of equivalent length. Valid Colorado Water Treatment Operator Certification - A, ORC of the plant. Supervisory experience and public relation skills to manage personnel and public inquiries regarding quality concerns.

Preferred 5-10 years' progressively responsible experience in water treatment plant operations and maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Expertise in water treatment plant operations, SCADA system operation, and relevant programs (RMP, NPDES, UCMR). Knowledge of conventional and contemporary practices of water treatment. Mechanical knowledge to assess equipment failures and engineering skills to evaluate plant operations. Ability to interpret chemical results to ensure proper treatment process functioning. Problem-solving skills to address and resolve operational issues. Proficiency in computer software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and plant operation programs. Strong leadership, supervisory, and training skills. Excellent communication and public relation abilities.

Essential Functions: Monitoring: Supervise the operation of the water treatment plant, review operational logs, interact with staff, ensure compliance with Federal drinking water requirements, and generate performance and operational reports. Purchasing: Order treatment and lab chemicals, cleaning supplies, and repair parts. Prepare requests for capital outlays and major repair/maintenance projects. Operations: Assist with maintenance/repair projects, develop operating and maintenance budgets, manage treated water reservoirs, and coordinate production set points with water treatment plants. Supervision: Plan, schedule, assign, and supervise work of operators. Review staff work, conduct performance reviews, and manage hiring of permanent and seasonal employees. Miscellaneous: Supervise construction projects, administer monitoring schedules, maintain the SCADA system, administer federal testing programs, and provide operational data to various stakeholders.
