Purina Equine Research Technician
Job Description: The equine research team has a unique opportunity for a motivated individual. Come and join our team of research technicians to care for our herd of research horses. Work as part of a team to feed, clean, and maintain our research horses and the facilities in which they are housed. Collect samples and conduct research projects to develop groundbreaking and innovative nutritional products for horses. This job involves daily care of the animals from feeding, cleaning, sanitizing waterers, bedding stalls to general maintenance of the facilities. This role also would be actively involved with the training program of our young horses for basic horsemanship as well as for our exercise and physiology program. Additionally, this position requires a detail-oriented and motivated individual to also participate in data collection, record keeping and general healthcare of the horses. We are looking for an individual that is ready to join the team with energy and enthusiasm as well as be an independent thinker. Experience working and comfort around large numbers of horses is required.
Education: High School Diploma
Skills/Competencies Required: Experience around horses, general animal husbandry, experience working with foals, broodmares, and young horses, ability to lift 50 pounds, detail oriented.
Skills/Competencies Preferred: Experience with the foaling process, knowledge and/or experience of equine health care
Schedule: 7:00 AM- 3:30 PM weekdays and occasional (approximately once per month) weekends and some holidays (weekend and holiday schedule will vary). On weeks where weekends are scheduled, employee will not be scheduled to accommodate weekend hours. 40 hours per week.
Pay: $18.00- 20.00/hour
