TIG welders are responsible for the fabrication, repair and welding of aerospace tubular, sheet metal and casted structural components. TIG Welders certify to AWS D17.1 Aerospace Specification as required to manually weld aviation hardware in all positions comprised of stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, magnesium, and aluminum alloys.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow company policies and procedures.

  • Follow directions and / or instructions, as directed.

  • Process forms and document work by utilizing their endorsement, in accordance with the Quality Management System.

  • Notify immediate supervisor of any suspected un-airworthy condition noted while performing their duties.

  • Set-up and layout jobs using blueprints, diagrams and fixtures, follow welding procedures to TIG weld in all positions including the use of rotary turntables for manual welding.

  • Inspect, maintain and log preventative maintenance on equipment needed for welding and fabricating.

  • Sets up machines according to work instructions to trim, size, form, inspect, and GTAW (TIG weld) material to meet fabrication drawing requirements.

  • Drawing review and compliance for final dimensions, weld note callouts, base material and filler material selection.

  • Solvent cleaning, trimming, sizing and polishing to prepare weld joints for welding.

  • Tack welding, fabrication of shop aids and fixtures to assist fabrication and welding.

  • Visual weld inspection using fillet weld gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges and final weld fixtures.

  • Weld inspection for weld size, face and root reinforcement, cracks, inclusions and porosity.

  • Lean Manufacturing, general housekeeping, work in a teaming environment, 5S.

  • Daily compliance to customer drawings and specifications to maintain aerospace Quality Standards.

  • Maintains qualification for welding certifications.

  • Cleans work area, tools, and equipment at end of shift.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Education and 2 years Technical Experience

Read, Write, and understand English fluently.

Ability to pass TIG welding assessment and become certified on required alloy/joint combinations

Good attention to detail and eye/hand coordination skills.
