Summary Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. Responsibilities Responsible for background investigation file maintenance, including retrieving all required data for keying into the Security & Background Investigation database. Responsible for auditing, distributing, retrieving, and filing investigation files. Maintains employee background investigation files. Files information that is to be contained in folders ensuring that it is filed in a timely manner and in chronological order. Establishes and monitors suspense dates for the receipt of investigations to be adjudicated and/or returned to institutions for additional information. Codes and keys tracking information within the section and final adjudication information into the database. Ensures coding is accurate and complete before keying into the computer system. Audits completed actions for accuracy. Maintains and provides statistical data for reporting purposes. Initiates employee 5 year re-investigations. Notifies employees, forwards appropriate forms. Reviews forms completed by employee for completeness and legibility. Initiates appropriate investigation with OPM. Forwards OPM scheduling notice to servicing HRM for OPF. Maintains tickler files and maintains oversight of employee responsiveness in submission of documents. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is Required. Additional information about CTAP eligibility is at: Click Here Qualifications To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: GS-06 and GS-07: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR Experience: GL-06 and GL-07: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: GS-06: Experience in performing a variety of administrative support duties, such as preparing memorandum, letters, and reports, copying and filing documents, and appropriate disposal of sensitive documents. Experience in maintaining departmental records and assisting with ensuring program requirements and timeframes are met. Experience with retrieving data, coding, and keying tracking information into an automated system. Experience responding to routine requests for information, suspense dates for matters requiring compliance, and similar information readily available from files. GS-07: Experience in performing a variety of administrative support duties, such as preparing correspondence and reports, copying and filing documents, auditing files, and appropriate disposal of sensitive documents. Experience in retrieving data, coding, and keying tracking information into a database and auditing actions for accuracy. Experience in initiating requests for information, tracking and monitoring suspense dates, and ensuring information received is in compliance with organizational procedures. Experience responding to routine requests for information such as status of reports, suspense dates for matters requiring compliance, and similar information readily available from files. Additional Information This position IS NOT included in the bargaining unit. The representative rate for this position is $59,746 per annum ($28.63 per hour). This position is located in the Security & Background Investigation Section (SBIS), Human Resource Services Center (HRSC), Grand Prairie, TX Special Conditions of Employment Section: Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation.
