At Action Traffic Maintenance, the role of the Apprentice Diesel Technician / Mechanic is essential in maintaining the efficiencies and productivity of the projects within the organization. Essential Job Functions:

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples only include some of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Work with other technicians to Identify mechanical problems visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Assists in performing tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Assists in preparing or replacing malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
  • Assist in maintaining inventories of materials, equipment, or products.
  • Work alongside skilled Technicians to learn how to perform quality vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain repair or maintenance records.
  • Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them properly.
  • Performs further tests, including driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean garage, including sweeping and vehicle washing.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess one (1) year of automotive or Diesel maintenance experience OR automotive or Diesel technician training
  • Driver's License - Required
  • Driver's License with CDL A or B- Preferred
  • At Action Traffic's discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read service and repair manuals.

Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.

Ability to read work order
