Engineering a world of possibilities Do you have a PhD in STEM education or a related field and a passion for diversity and inclusion? The newly established NSF Center for Engineering Equity at the Colorado School of Mines has an opening for a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in the general area of STEM Education with experience in assessment of student outcomes for diversity equity and inclusion. The ideal candidate would also have experience with funds of knowledge or related theories of cultural capital, survey design, data collection and analysis via survey, focus group and interviews. The position will support the research component of an NSF Center on Engineering Equity throughout the student experience. The successful candidate will need to 1) establish a research methodology to evaluate the effectiveness of a peer-educator training model that aims to improve student outcomes such as sense of belonging and retention; 2) support data collection and integration from other teams, such as from our climate survey and institutional research; 3) analyze data and write publications and reports summarizing results; 4) collaborate with the team to write and submit for follow on center funding; and 5) participate in the overarching activities of the grant and center. Funding is initially available for two years, with the possibility of extension if additional research funding is available and adequate progress is being made. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead independent research activities in collaboration with faculty advisor(s) Participate in weekly research meetings with faculty advisor(s) Participate in larger project team meetings and support project reporting activities required by project sponsor. Design and implement assessment methods and protocol. Collect and analyze assessment data. Write scientific publications, reports, policy briefs, and guidelines. Provide support for and/or lead the preparation and submission of proposals for future research funding for the Center and research group. Participate in Center activities such as DEIA training events, mentoring programs, Present findings at regional and national conferences and support organization of workshops.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Ph.D. in STEM Education or related fields Experience with surveys and assessment of student outcomes

Preferred Qualifications Education and Experience: Experience with DEIA in STEM Experience with Funds of Knowledge or related cultural capital and/or related methods to assess student sense of belonging and inclusion Publication record showing the ability to publish papers in referred journals

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to conduct appropriate statistical analysis of experimental data Ability to work independently Strong writing and communication skills Understanding of literature and best practice related to DEIA in STEM

Annual Rate and Benefits $60,000 - $65,000
