Exciting Opportunity for a Quality Engineer

We are searching for a Quality Engineer to join our busy HCO team based in Renfrew.

The main purpose of the role of Quality Engineer, will be to manage all aspects of quality throughout the lifecycle of large/complex Package Projects. Providing functional support to deliver products right first time, meeting delivery commitments within budget. You will provide a focus on product quality, excellent documentation, and service delivery.

Responsible for creation & maintenance of Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Paint Specifications, and Quality Plans to meet contract requirements. Developing strong relationships with external parties (customer / clients / suppliers) and their representatives; liaising with clients & witnessing authorities to meet contract requirements. Supporting inspection / process review activities at Suppliers, review & approval of supplier documentation / procedures / material certification in accordance with code & client requirements. The Quality Engineer is Instrumental in formulating partnerships with key stakeholders and suppliers. Providing support to reduce risk and managing issues associated with non-conforming products & services.

This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week. We offer hybrid working for this role which will allow you to enjoy the balance of home working and collaboration time with the team in our modern, friendly offices which include free onsite parking.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of quality management throughout the value stream of packages from Quote to Cash (original quotation, through each stage of plan, build & test, MRB, through to receipt of cash).

  • Development and maintenance of inspection & test records (ITP); paint specifications; quality plans to meet contract requirements.

  • Work alongside colleagues to understand the project and product needs, as well as providing witness inspection and test support at suppliers.

  • Input to supplier selection; working closely with Supplier Quality in the improvement of HCO supply chain performance, adopting a partnership approach with key suppliers.

  • Liaise with clients & witnessing authorities to meet contract requirements, supporting inspection / process review activities at Sub-Contractors Works.

  • Review & approve relevant supplier documentation such as Weld procedures, NDE procedures, Hydrotest procedures, Material Certification, etc in accordance with code & client requirements.

  • Facilitate and lead root cause investigation and management of non-conformances, ensuring closure of corrective actions.

  • Work alongside Documentation Control team to ensure all contract related documentation for Manufacturing Record Book is accurate, on time, and meets customer expectation levels.

  • Use Continuous Improvement approach to promote Built in Quality concepts into Standard work. Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Commercial and Procurement teams to drive improved manufacturing and supply chain performance and early defect detection.

  • Support the business in the management of the health, safety, and environmental management systems to maintain certification in accordance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.

  • Experience in Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work with minimal supervision.

  • Experience with cross functional management.

  • Effective problem solving and root-cause analysis skills to lead & influence others to drive change.

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, written and verbal.

  • Excellent data analysis skills with the ability to present data effectively.

  • Understanding of witness inspection and test activities.

  • Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.

  • Understanding manufacturing processes.

  • Report and Procedure writing with excellent presentation skills.

  • Understanding and experience working with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

  • Strong technical background in one of the following areas: casting, machining, metallurgy, welding, fabrication; or relevant manufacturing / packaging experience.
