Exciting Opportunity for a Design & Development Engineer

We are searching for a Design & Development Engineer to join our busy team based in Renfrew.

As the Design & Development Engineer, your role will be to perform detailed design activity for new product development and to evaluate technical issues and operational problems in existing and new products. You will use deep technical expertise to evaluate designs and to propose modifications for operational deployment of new or refined technology

This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week. We offer hybrid working for this role which will allow you to enjoy the balance of home working and collaboration time with the team in our modern, friendly offices which include free onsite parking.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Prepare preliminary and detailed design calculations including FEM, thermodynamic calculations and others.

  • Prepare of technical documents such as reports, drawings, bill of material, technical specification for compressor assemblies and parts.

  • When necessary work on design requests for special compressors.

  • Evaluate technical issues and operation problems in existing designs and new product deployment.

  • Investigate behaviour of Solid Material and Fluid behaviour for use in existing and new products.

  • Investigate new designs and applications.

  • Evaluate proposed modifications for existing compressors.

  • Assume role of "problem owner" for specific product development assignments.

  • Interact and respond to all aspects of Lean Manufacture supporting cost reduction, efficiency, delivery and Quality improvements.

  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards in compliance with company policy to ensure safe working environment.

To be successful you must have …

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience in design of mechanical assemblies and/or rotating equipment.

  • Proficiency in use of AutoCAD and Inventor, or similar CAD packages.

  • Technical competence and demonstrable knowledge of mechanical design, analytical, numerical and experimental methods to analyse compressors.

  • Understanding of rotating machinery design issues such as fatigue, noise and vibration.

  • Proven Communications skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels of the business.

It’s a bonus if you have (but not essential)…

  • Knowledge of FEA would be a plus.

  • Knowledge of international Codes & Standards.
