Our software development department is responsible for new product development and maintenance to support challenging customer requirements, as well as to control hundreds of highly complex chromatography instruments and components. This group works closely with the product development teams from instrument business units, as well as with marketing, support and field service teams. We and our stakeholders have high expectations on quality and on-time deliverables.

Software Engineer (f/m/d)

Location/Division Specific Information

Designed to support your digital transformation journey, the Thermo Scientific Ardia Platform is a scalable software solution for modern, dynamic (often cloud-based) environments. It connects and organizes projects, people, and instruments, on a global level, with web-based access and secure centralized data storage, enabling scientists to collaborate more efficiently and gain new insights faster, helping them get closer to the truth.

A day in the Life

  • Design, implement, and test new software modules to enhance our enterprise chromatography data system (CDS) and the Ardia platform

  • Maintain existing software modules

  • Contribute to the leading edge of the digital transformation of the chromatography and mass spectrometry industry

  • Collaborate with peers in development, testing, quality management and documentation to provide new software solutions

  • Author technical documentation of own development activities

  • Participate in product design refinement review process to understand the specifications and recommend improvements

Keys to Success

Education

  • University degree in natural sciences or other technical field, or equivalent years of relevant experience

Experience

  • Solid programming skills in C#

  • Good written and spoken English

  • Experience with Agile software methodology (Scrum)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Good knowledge and experience in client server architecture

  • A meticulous, structured and creative approach to your work

  • Solid Experience in designing and developing software solutions for complex requirements

  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, Docker and Kubernetes

  • Databases; SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL

  • Experience in test automation

  • General understanding of multi-threading programming

  • ​​​​​​​Familiarity with design principles and patterns

Work Environment

  • Be a valuable team member of the Scrum team responsible for data processing and data storage

  • Contribute to the leading edge of the digital transformation of the chromatography and mass spectrometry industry

  • Work closely within global scrum teams (Germany, Slovakia, UK, US) to co-develop, collaborate and learn
