Position Summary
HIGHLIGHTS
The SUNY Geneseo Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation, part of the Division of Student and Campus Life, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Athletic Trainer. This full-time, 10-month, benefits-eligible position will function as a member of the Sports Medicine team in the implementation of all aspects of the Intercollegiate Athletic Training/Sports Medicine program in support of SUNY Geneseo’s highly competitive 22 intercollegiate athletic teams and approximately 475 student-athletes.
The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
operations of athletic training/sports medicine program, including the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries
working under physician supervision for physician referrals, physician event coverage, and pre-participation physical examinations
supervising student workers
providing athletic training/sports medicine coverage for team practices and competitions
communicating with coaching and strength and conditioning staff to ensure the well-being of all student-athletes
maintaining and updating student-athlete health records
adhering to all NCAA , Empire 8, and SUNY Geneseo rules and regulations
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree by time of appointment
Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification ( NATABOC ). Licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to professional development and evaluation/recommendation of new techniques and equipment to enhance athletic training services
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as the ability to establish and maintain positive learning environments for students and collaborative relationships with colleagues
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and relevant collegiate experience
Familiarization with NCAA rules
License/Certification
Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification ( NATABOC ). Licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State.
