S&P Global Legal Counsel - Commodity Insights in Gdansk, Poland

The Team:

This position reports to Head of Commodity Insights Legal, EMEA. You will work in a dynamic, global, client-facing (both internal and external) environment and will have the opportunity to work independently and be part of a legal team that provides crucial support to the organization. You will have a chance to be involved in a host of various commercial transactions, ad-hoc business projects, as well as assisting with special projects such as research, process review and innovation, and information review and analysis.

The Impact:

You will be responding to internal client inquiries, providing valuable support in the handling of legal matters and in all aspects of the contract process, reviewing contracts, training the commercial organisation on legal and contracting procedures, negotiating and drafting contracts for financial information and analytical products and services and assisting with special projects outside of routine client facing contracting as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, negotiating and drafting wide variety of agreements including data, software licenses, services, maintenance, web-based services, consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements and other commercial contracts from different regions, at global level.

  • Support sales and other business teams including shared services groups based in different regions, globally and provide them with innovative business solutions.

  • Interact and work closely with S&P Market Intelligence Legal Team and provide strategic and legal inputs on matters across different business areas.

  • Drafting and maintaining template agreements.

  • Encouraging compliance by S&P Global Colleagues with applicable policies and procedures (e.g. Sales RAD, insider trading, and compliance).

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2-4 years’ experience as a certified legal counsel with commercial, contracts, and general legal experience in an in-house legal environment

  • Must have an excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken

  • Excellent drafting and negotiating skills

  • Experienced in compliance, intellectual property and data privacy matters is a plus

  • Knowledge of data and software licensing and commercial contract law required is a plus

  • Knowledge of English law, or the laws of the State of NY is a plus.

  • Ability to anticipate and respond to problems.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • You'll be asked to work 2 days from the office.
