Garden City Hospital Nurse Assistant in Garden City, Michigan

As a Nurse Assistant (NA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you will provide essential support to nursing staff and assist with the delivery of patient care in various healthcare settings. Your role is critical in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of patients under the supervision of licensed nurses.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
  2. Help patients with eating, drinking, and maintaining proper nutrition, following dietary guidelines and feeding techniques as necessary.
  3. Take and record patients' vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration rate.
  4. Assist with turning, repositioning, and transferring patients to prevent pressure ulcers and maintain skin integrity.
  5. Provide basic nursing care, such as changing dressings, applying topical medications, and assisting with medical procedures under the direction of licensed nurses.
  6. Respond promptly to patients' call lights and requests for assistance, ensuring timely and compassionate care.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including making beds, tidying rooms, and disinfecting equipment.
  8. Assist in the collection of specimens for laboratory testing and perform basic diagnostic tests, such as blood glucose monitoring and urine testing.
  9. Document patient care activities, observations, and interactions in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts as directed by nursing staff.
  10. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team, providing updates on patients' condition and reporting any concerns or changes.
  11. Follow infection control protocols, standard precautions, and safety guidelines to prevent the spread of infections and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  12. Participate in training programs, in-service education sessions, and continuing education to maintain and enhance nursing assistant skills and knowledge.
