Job Description:

The Computational Microscopy Imaging Lab (CMIL) led by Dr. Pinanki Sarder in the Department of Medicine at the University of Florida is seeking a highly creative and motivated Histology Technician to assist with Quality Control of computerized annotated histology whole slide images in the Lab. Successful applicants will review various organs/system slides such as kidneys, lungs, skin, liver, heart, and female reproductive system with a possibility expanding to other organs. The applicant will need to have knowledge of several stains such as H&E, PAS, trichrome, and Jones/Silver, and a background in histological preparation in FFPE vs. Frozen, Sources of artifacts. Must ensure all regulations are met and all productivity and quality standards are met or surpassed.

Duties include:

-Stain tissue sections with appropriate dyes and chemicals.

-Mount stained tissue sections on slides.

-Quality Control and Record Keeping.

-Ensure accuracy and precision in sample preparation and staining.

-Maintain detailed records of all specimens and procedures.

-Verify sample identity and documentation before processing.

Expected Salary:

$21 - $24/hr, commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor of Science is recommended, ASCP HT/HTL certification/license

Must be able to read, write in, speak and understand English

Preferred Qualifications:

Interest in machine learning, computation biology

Ability to work remotely (Location: Remote/Flexible).
