Job Description:
The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position at the Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, non-tenure track, with a focus in Histocompatibility as the Assistant or Associate Director of the HLA laboratory. The HLA Laboratory is an ASHI- and CAP-accredited laboratory that provides around the clock coverage for award-winning transplant programs supporting 400 transplants a year. Many of the UF Health programs have been nationally recognized for excellent outcomes while transplanting medically, surgically and immunologically complex patients. Along with the UF Health solid organ and bone marrow transplant programs, the laboratory also supports the Ascension Sacred Heart kidney transplant program, and the hospital-based LifeQuest OPO.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the HLA Medical Director in the overall management of the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics laboratory. Responsibilities will include working closely with the director to continue and implement state of the art testing and ensure robust quality performance. You will share in the review and approval of test results/report, on-call duties, serve as a clinical consultant and provide guidance for current transplant regulations as needed.
Primary responsibilities will involve service and clinical teaching of residents and medical students. Scholarly study and investigation in the applicant's area of interest is expected.

Minimum Requirements:
Preferably the candidate will hold a medical (M.D. or D.O.) or doctoral (Ph.D.) degree and possess the HLA Laboratory Director Certification from the American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) or be eligible for certification at time of hire. However, MD and/or Ph.D. candidates who are currently training in histocompatibility with a goal to become ACHI credentialed will be considered. Relevant molecular experience is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have experience in histocompatibility testing, transplant immunology and immunogenetics and be able to provide clinical laboratory support for solid organ and stem cell transplantation recipients and donors. The candidate should also have an established track record of peer reviewed work and desire for advancing knowledge in the field. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
