About You and this Role

Dowis seeking aCritical Rotating Equipment Engineerto join our team inFreeport, TX!

In this role, you will implement technology to exceed reliability and long term cost of ownership goals with emphasis placed on rotating equipment. You will provide assistance with rotating equipment design, selection, troubleshooting, analytical evaluation, and repair versus replace decisions, repair options and equipment installation and commissioning. Additionally, you will provide technical expertise through a collaborative effort to multiple businesses and production plants across Texas Operations.

This role interfaces across Plant Operations, the Reliability Engineering team, Business Technology team, Turnaround organization, Maintenance Organization etc. to deliver technical expertise for Turbo-machineries and critical equipment. The role also has opportunity to support other sites within the US Gulf Coast and Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on rotating equipment to determine solutions and scopes of repair (turbo machinery, pumps, blowers, fans, etc.).

  • Analyze failures and participate in root cause investigations (both preliminary for startup and formal / in depth root cause investigations for long term solutions).

  • Evaluate improvement and/or process changes that enhance equipment reliability and overall asset utilization.

  • Network with site engineers to leverage and standardize best practices and technology.

  • Provide field technical support for repairs, installation projects, re-rates, and commissioning.

  • Develop and/or approve repair procedures, hold points for critical equipment repairs, and witness points for new equipment mechanical test runs.

  • Work with project personnel in developing new equipment design, specifications, etc. prior to purchase and installation ensuring equipment maintainability is addressed.

  • Resource for development of critical equipment reliability maintenance strategies.

  • Identify necessary spare parts and recommend stocking levels.

  • Work with corporate technical networks in developing and updating global best practices and mechanical standards (EMETL).

  • Conduct training sessions both impromptu and formal.

  • Provide detailed design analysis of components and assemblies through Finite Element Analysis, Machine Design Analysis, and Statistical Analysis.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (e.g. engineering, manufacturing or related).

  • Previous experience in troubleshooting, analysis, and repair of rotating equipment.

  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

  • Professional Engineer certification.

  • Previous experience in plant reliability.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Proactive and self-motivated with strong leadership skills.
