Trusting Hands Home Care Agency Home Health Aide/Personal Care Aide in Freeport, New York

JOB DESCRIPTION: Home Health Aide (HHA) Full-Time & Part-Time 16-40 hours per week.

Salary: $19.00-$22.00 an hour.

REPORTS TO: Director, Administrator, Manager, Supervisor or HR.

PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT: Client homes, work sites outside of the client home as required and other work sites as required Trusting Hands Homecare Agency

JOB SUMMARY:

The HHA is a front-line position acting as a representative Trusting Hands and providing the services offered by the company. The HHA duties are not limited to those listed as the position has a wide scope of duties at times dependent on the client and always under the auspices of the company. The HHA will mostly work independently and must follow care plan and document daily. It should be noted that emphasis is for the HHA to involve the client in the care program to help provide the client with the basic standards of healthy living as follows:

l . Physical Activity 2. Mental Stimulation 3. Personal Contact 4. Nutrition 5. Relaxation 6. Humor

WORK HOURS: This position may require various shifts at various times (including nights, weekends, and sleep-over) in one or more work sites.

DUTIES: The following list of duties is a guideline of possible duties to be performed independently. Must follow care plan. The Caregiver duties are not limited to those listed.

l . Personal Care a. Basic elements of body function; personal hygiene and grooming including bed, sponge, tub or shower baths; skin, tub or bed shampoos; nail and skin care; oral hygiene; toileting and elimination; use of prescribed medical equipment and supplies; rehabilitation including safe transfer techniques and ambulation; normal range of motion and positioning; assistance with use of crutches, walkers, and Hoyer lifts; and prescribed exercise programs; nutrition and fluid intake, temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; assistance with medication administration; special skin care; simple dressing changes; ostomy care; observing, reporting, and recording daily activities.

  1. Companionship a. One of the most important aspects of Trusting Hands Homecare Agency will be providing customers with a strong sense of self-esteem and independence. Taking a genuine interest in the client, their life and their environment will help create true sense of companionship. Whether it is playing a favorite board game or card game, reading, taking a stroll or visiting with friends and neighbors, companionship provides the depth of our services.

  2. Housekeeping, Laundry

a. The HHA will provide dusting, sweeping the floor, vacuuming carpets and furniture, changing bedding, cleaning the bathroom; washing, drying, ironing and folding laundry; caring for house plants; taking out garbage and general tidying of living spaces as required or requested. 4. Kitchen Work a. This includes grocery shopping, preparing meals, cooking, baking, serving, assisting with eating, washing and drying dishes and general tidying up.

  1. Transportation and Escort: A HHA may not drive their car or transport a client to an appointment. A HHA can accompany on appointments in medical transportation and errands.

OUALIFICATIONS:

l. Current certificate in standard first aid and CPR. 2. Valid State ID. 3. Ability to work independently. 4. Excellent communication and listening skills. 5. Compassionate, patient and caring nature. 6. Able to work in a stressful environment. 7. Must be physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of care giving.

GENERAL NOTES: l. The HHA will be required to maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their clients. 2. There may be emergency situations where the HHA will have to react quickly with sound judgement. 3. The scope of duties described in this document may not include all duties to be performed by the HHA and is subject to change.

Note: A pre-employment physical is required.
