L. L. Bean, Inc. Security Officer - 2nd Shift in Freeport, Maine

We are looking for Security Officers to work in Freeport, Maine.

This Year-Round, benefitted role is on 2nd shift.

2nd shift hours are 1:30pm-9:30pm.

Join our team as a Second Shift Security Officer, where you’ll play a crucial role in protecting L.L.Bean employees, facilities, and physical assets, including the L.L.Bean Brand. You’ll work at various company locations, enforcing company safety and security rules following department standard operation procedures, while utilizing and monitoring provided equipment and software. Your duties will include stationary and patrol duties while touring company property and buildings for the purpose of fire, theft, and vandalism protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergencies and life/safety situations as directed by management and Central Security.

  • Ensure the safety of all company employees by processing personnel through metal detectors and conducting bag checks.

  • Perform facilities tours, being alert for fire, unauthorized entry, safety risks/hazards, and suspicious activity.

  • Support Retail as needed with disruptive customers or back-up support for apprehensions.

  • Operate and maintain air-sampling equipment and conduct air sampling as requested.

  • Conduct access control to key manufacturing buildings through the operation of metal detectors, turnstiles, exception gate while verifying employment and appropriate access.

  • Respond to all issues on company property and alarms.

  • Escort employees, including those with protection orders, to their vehicles as requested.

  • Provide security presence when requested during emergency and threatening situations, as well as non-emergency events, such as concerts or performances at the Flagship campus.

  • Contribute to reducing shrinkage by performing bag checks, conducting building patrols, and being an active presence in all areas of the company.

  • Create incident reports using the reporting software called Mobotour.

  • Prepare daily station logs, maintain files and ensure that copies of all reports are forwarded to appropriate management personnel.

  • Report all activity to Central Station.

  • Perform parking lot checks and monitor cameras.

  • Provide Security Station coverage for breaks and absences.

  • Conduct vehicle inspections and operate company vehicles as needed.

Education Level

High School Diploma or GED

Two-year degree in a related field is preferred

Experience

2+ years experience preferred

Military or first responder experience optimal

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record for the last 3-5 years, and be able to be cleared to operate company vehicles

  • Must pass L.L.Bean background check

  • Must possess above-average computer skills, including SharePoint, OneNote, Excel, and Microsoft Office suite

  • Must possess good writing, communication, and organizational skills

  • Must be able to work across multiple shifts

  • Ability to multi-task and handle stressful situations by maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when responding to all types of emergency situations

  • Familiarity with Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) techniques

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and be a team player

  • Must have outstanding customer service skills and be able to adapt to changing situations and operate in a diverse environment
